Dr. Thakore’s Prescription for Success:

Number 1: Remember why you’re in the game. In medicine, the reason we’re in this game is because of human lives. There will be times when the only satisfaction and reward get is that you know you did the right thing, and you made a difference in someone’s life

Number 2: Understand that your colleagues are human, and they are by no means perfect, and we shouldn’t expect perfection.

Number 3: Take care of yourself and recognize that whoever is in your life with you, your partner, your spouse, your children, are a part of this as well.

Notable quotes from Dr. Thakore’s interview:

When you’re 17, 18, 19 years old, it’s a difficult time if you have not been taught the discipline and the the fine art of studying properly. It’s something that I initially had to stumble through.
More is not necessarily better when it comes to studying.
Wisdom comes through failures and mistakes.
I think life experience and having a well-rounded personality goes further than any one part of your life.
As a physician, you have to exercise some control over the [business] growth you’re experiencing in order to stabilize and really solidify your ability to watch what’s going on.
I’ve gotten comfortable with the idea of liking the fact I really enjoy marrying medicine to economics.
